Federal Fire Service in Zamfara State has decorated 19 senior officers recently promoted across various ranks, charging them to uphold professionalism, humility, and dedication to the protection of lives and property.
The decoration ceremony was held at the Command Headquarters in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.
Speaking at the event, the Acting Controller of the Federal Fire Service in Zamfara State Command, Mr. Sagir Garba said the promotions were aimed at motivating officers and strengthening effective service delivery across the state.
According to him, three officers were promoted from Superintendent of Fire (SF) to Chief Superintendent of Fire (CSF), while 11 officers were elevated from Assistant Superintendent of Fire I (ASF I) to Deputy Superintendent of Fire (DSF).
An additional five officers were promoted from Instructor to Assistant Superintendent of Fire, bringing the total number of decorated officers to 19.
Mr. Sagir Garba described promotion as both a privilege and a challenge, noting that higher ranks come with greater responsibility.
“Promotion means more responsibility. I expect the officers to think deeper, serve with humility, and continue to improve themselves.
He argued that, a new rank is a challenge to do better and contribute more to humanity.
The acting Comptroller urged the newly promoted officers to exceed basic expectations, stressing that, commitment and sacrifice are essential in the fire service.
“I expect not less than 150 per cent commitment from them. The safety of lives and property must always be the top priority,” he added.
Commenting on the Service’s outlook for 2026, Mr Sagir Garba, the Acting Controller said the Federal Fire Service in Zamfara State would intensify public awareness campaigns to further reduce incidents of fire outbreaks.
He revealed that, over the last three years, the service had continued to record fewer fire incidents due to largely sustained awareness campaigns and the efforts of inspectors in educating the public on fire prevention and safety measures.
Garba expressed optimism that with continued sensitisation, especially during the harmattan season, the state would record even fewer fire disasters.
Some of the promoted officers reaffirmed commitment to do more in the discharge of their duties.
