Zamfara State Government has constituted and deployed a technical committee to identify a suitable parcel of land for the construction of an airstrip in Anka Local Government Area.
The committee was set up by the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure in collaboration with the Ministry for Local Government, Ministry for Housing, Zamfara Geographic Information System (ZAGIS), Anka Local Government Council, Anka Emirate Council, and representatives of relevant security agencies.
In a statement issued by the Information Officer of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Jamilu Bello, the technical team has been dispatched to Anka Local Government Area to conduct comprehensive field inspections, stakeholder consultations, and technical assessments in line with established planning, safety, and regulatory standards.
He said the committee’s assignment is ongoing and, upon completion, a suitable site will be recommended for the proposed project.
The committee is chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Haruna Dikko, while the Director of Civil Engineering, Engr. Amiru Musa Anka, is heading the field operations and also serves as the committee’s secretary, providing professional leadership and technical expertise.
According to the statement, the initiative is aimed at enhancing connectivity, strengthening security operations, and promoting sustainable socio-economic development across Zamfara State.
