Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has assured the Nigerian Army of his steadfast support, while encouraging troops to remain focused and resilient in confronting emerging challenges.
He gave the assurance at the West African Social Activities-WASA organised by One division of the Nigerian Army held in Kaduna.
Governor Uba Sani noted that Army’s collaborative approach with other security agencies through Operation Fansan Yamma-OPFY had significantly contributed to the peace and stability of the State.

“I am particularly impressed by your achievements in combating kidnapping, cattle rustling and armed banditry”
Represented by his Deputy, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, the Governor commended officers and soldiers for their extraordinary commitment in the discharge of their constitutional roles.
Earlier in his welcome address, General Officer Commanding One division and Commander sector 1 OPFY, Major General Abubakar Wase explained that the training directives programmed for the division in 2025 was effectively executed with high sense of professionalism and regimentation.
He pointed out that joint task force-opfy have drastically decreased security threats within the one division area of responsibility.
“Hence, these joint operations in conjunction with other security agencies have succeeded in curtailing the menace of cattle rustlers, kidnappers and other criminal elements in our society”
Major General Wase therefore charged officers and men of the division to brace-up for the challenges ahead and ensure that 2026 training activities are fully implemented.
According to the GOC, WASA 2025 is yet another occasion to remember and pay tributes to fallen heroes who paid the supreme sacrifice for the peace and unity of Nigeria.
WASA is an annual event which showcases Nigeria’s rich traditions and diverse cultural heritage, aimed at creating an avenue to bond, while reflecting on the year’s activities.
It also provides a forum for social interaction and an opportunity for the public to appreciate the diverse customs and glamorous traditions of the barracks communities.
Highpoints of the event were presentation of awards to personnel who distinguished themselves in the line of duty, a tug of war competition between youth corps members and the Magajiyas, cultural performances among others.
The event had in attendance, serving and retired senior officers as well as representatives of various heads of security agencies from within and outside Kaduna State.
