The Zamfara State Police Command has foiled an attempted invasion of Maru metropolis by armed bandits who allegedly planned a mass abduction in the early hours of Sunday, December 28, 2025.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.
According to the statement, acting on credible and timely intelligence, a joint security team comprising the Police, the Military, the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards, and local vigilante groups swiftly mobilised and engaged the bandits upon their arrival.
The security operatives successfully repelled the attackers, forcing them to flee with suspected gunshot injuries. No casualties were recorded, and no abduction was carried out during the operation.
Following the incident, security presence has been significantly reinforced in Maru and its surrounding communities to prevent any further threat.
Commending the professionalism and gallantry of the operatives, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
He also urged members of the public to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and useful information.
