Federal Government has reassured citizens that it remains firmly in control of the country’s security architecture and is fully committed to protecting lives and property, as it intensifies decisive actions against terrorist groups threatening national stability.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, who gave the assurance during a press briefing, explained that Nigerian security forces, in collaboration with the Government of the United States of America, had successfully conducted precision strike operations against two major Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist enclaves in Sokoto State.

According to the minister, the targeted enclaves were located within the Bauni forest axis of Tangaza Local Government Area. He said the locations served as assembly and staging grounds for foreign ISIS fighters infiltrating Nigeria from the Sahel region, working in concert with local affiliates to plan large-scale terrorist attacks.

He further reaffirmed Federal Government’s unwavering resolve to confront and eliminate transnational terrorist threats, assuring Nigerians of sustained collaboration with strategic international partners to guarantee peace, enhance border security, and promote regional stability. Citizens were also urged to remain calm, vigilant and supportive of ongoing security efforts.
