Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has signed the 2026 budget of ₦901.84 billion into law to drive development and address the needs of the people.
Speaking after assenting to the budget, Governor Namadi said that while the state budget stands at ₦901.84 billion, the consolidated budget of the 27 local government councils is ₦288.85 billion.
He explained that the budget is the outcome of extensive citizen engagement and reflects the aspirations and priorities of the people of Jigawa State.
According to the governor, the 2026 budget is a true citizens’ budget, containing exactly what the people demanded from the government.
He however, commended members of the Jigawa State House of Assembly for their dedication and commitment throughout the budget process.
“Their support during the citizen engagement sessions, bilateral meetings, high-level discussions, and committee stages played a critical role in the smooth passage of this budget.”
“I also commend the members of the State Executive Council for approving and actively participating in the citizen engagement programme, and for their tireless efforts in gathering inputs from our citizens, often working late into the night,”
Namadi commended the residents of the state for their support and participation in the budget process, pledging that the administration will do its best to improve the lives of people.
