The Southern Kaduna Journalists’ Forum has reaffirmed its commitment to credible journalism and nation-building, pledging continued support for policies that promote unity, fairness, and shared prosperity across the country.
Chairman of the Forum, Mr. Ango Bally, stated this at a press conference in Kaduna while acknowledging the appointment of General Christopher Musa as Nigeria’s Minister of Defence.
The Forum believes that when credible and nationally acknowledged individuals are chosen to serve in positions of responsibility, both the people and the country stand to benefit.
Mr. Ango Bally noted that General Musa’s distinguished record of service makes his appointment a confidence boosting development for national security management.
The Southern Kaduna Journalists’ Forum therefore applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his fair and inclusive decision, stressing that General Musa’s illustrious military career, strategic expertise, and unwavering patriotism have earned him respect at home and abroad.
He further commended the Senate for its swift and professional confirmation process, which reflected a broad national consensus on the retired General’s capability.
The Forum also acknowledged the role of Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, in promoting inclusive governance and supporting the region’s development agenda, with milestones such as the establishment of the University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, upgrades in the health sector, and the completion of abandoned projects.
According to the Forum, the Governor’s backing for General Musa’s appointment stands in sharp contrast to years of exclusion experienced under the previous administration.
“It is worthy of note that the Forum had, in September 2023, appealed to President Bola Tinubu to allocate the Kaduna State ministerial slot to Southern Kaduna for fairness and inclusive governance, following the rejection by the Nigerian Senate of the nomination of ex-Governor Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai as Federal Minister.”
“Indeed, we thank President Tinubu for being a listening and responsive President by demonstrating inclusive politics, a gesture that has not only restored equity but has further strengthened national cohesion and inclusive governance. The people of Southern Kaduna take note of this goodwill and will surely reciprocate at the appropriate time,” he explained
The Forum described the appointment as a moment of pride for Southern Kaduna, Kaduna State, and Nigeria, expressing confidence that General Musa will bring competence, courage, and integrity to the task of strengthening the nation’s defence architecture.
It concluded by praying for God’s guidance as the new Defence Minister undertakes the responsibility of safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and advancing national peace and security.
