Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State has launched the construction of 27.6km road from Sabuwa to Rafin Iwa in Sabuwa Local Government Area of the state.
The road which will be construction at the contract sum of N18.5 billion has a completion period of 18 months and will connect about fifty agrarian communities for better access to markets.
The governor noted that the commencement of the road project is in fulfilment of his promise of rural transformation as the communities along the road are predominantly farmers and agri-preneurs.
While tasking the contractor to execute the project according to specification and within the project tenure, the governor urged the benefitting communities to cooperate with the contractor and engineers from the state Ministry of Works throughout the duration of the project.
In his speech, the state Commissioner of Works, Alhaji Sani Magaji Ingawa, noted that already the contractor has been mobilized to site with 40 percent of the contract sum.

He said farmers and land owners that will be affected by the road construction will be adequately compensated while appealing to the communities to cooperate with the contracting firm to enable it carry out quality work.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Sabuwa Local Government Area, Alhaji Sagir Tanimu, thanked the governor for approving the contract for the construction of the road and other projects executed in the local government area in the last two years.
