The Senate and House of Representatives Joint Committees on Constitution Review are to brief the governors of the 36 states on the outcome of the process so far.
Deputy Speaker House of Representatives Mr Benjamin Kalu, made the disclosure while delivering his remarks at the 2nd joint retreat of the House and Senate Committees on Constitutional Review in Abuja.
Mr Benjamin Kalu, explained that the meeting was designed to serve as an avenue to update the Governors about the process so far which include deliberation, consultation to legislative action and debate for sucessf delivery.
He said the retreat is a reflection of the shared commitment of the National Assembly to produce a clear and achievable roadmap that strengthens local governance, enhances gender balance, ensures credible elections, as well as guaratee federation against future instability.
The Deputy Speaker, hiwever assured the Governors that the briefing is not an attempt to undermine executive authority rather an effort to strengthen federalism, improve governance, and deliver the democracy Nigerians have been yearning over the years.
Mr Benjamin Kalu, also called on the Speakers of the State Houses of Assemblies to rise to the occasion and ensure that every amendment from the Constitution review committees passes through as success or failure of the exercise will be determined by State Assemblies across the country.
