The Kanwan Katsina and District Head of Ketare in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara, mni, has marked a significant milestone — 25 years on the revered throne of his forefathers — celebrating his Silver Jubilee with deep reflection and gratitude.

Turbaned on November 4, 2000, by the late Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Muhammadu Kabir Usman, following the passing of his father, Alhaji Bello Nadabo (the second Kanwan Katsina), Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara has distinguished himself as a visionary leader and progressive traditional ruler.

A retired Comptroller of Customs and a distinguished alumnus of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, the Kanwan Katsina has spent the last quarter-century transforming Ketare District into a model of community-driven development.

Under his leadership, the district has witnessed remarkable progress in education, healthcare, agriculture and youth empowerment. He facilitated the establishment of primary and community secondary schools, organized computer literacy programmes for hundreds of young people, and collaborated with government and development partners to expand access to healthcare services and agricultural support.

Beyond development strides, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara has remained a pillar of peace and stability, working closely with security agencies, government authorities and traditional institutions to sustain harmony and improve social welfare across his domain.

Reflecting on his journey, the monarch attributed his achievements to the steadfast support of successive Katsina State governments — from the late Umaru Musa Yar’adua, to Ibrahim Shema, Aminu Bello Masari, and the current governor, Dikko Umar Radda.

He also expressed appreciation to the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Dr. Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, and members of the Emirate Council for their continuous guidance and support. He further thanked district officials, village and ward heads, friends, family members and the people of Ketare for their loyalty and cooperation.

As he marks his Silver Jubilee, the Kanwan Katsina reaffirmed his commitment to uphold the legacy of his ancestors, promote unity, and continue supporting government policies and programmes aimed at the welfare and progress of his people.

“This milestone is not just mine, but a celebration of our collective journey of progress, peace and service,” he said.
