The Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria-DICON has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Russelsmith Nigeria to advance the local production of additive materials for the manufacturing of critical defence equipment.
A statement by the DICON spokesperson, Maria Sambo says the partnership marks a direct implementation of the DICON act 2023.
According to the statement , the act empowers DICON to establish high-value partnerships with local private-sector expertise to strengthen national security through indigenous production.

Speaking at the event, Director-General of DICON, Major General Babatunde Alaya noted that the collaboration was a monumental step in the actualization of the Military Industrial Complex.
He expressed his full support behind the initiative, stressing that it promises to be a game-changer for national security architecture.

Also speaking, the CEO of Russelsmith Nigeria limited, Mr Kayode Adeleke re-affirmed his company’s commitment to supporting the partnership.
“Together, we are laying the foundation for a new era of indigenous defence innovation and Industrial capability”.

According to the statement, the DICON-Russelsmith partnership positions Nigeria as a regional hub for advanced defence manufacturing.
It adds that by integrating additive manufacturing into the military industrial complex framework, the collaboration will enhance the operational capabilities of the Armed Forces and enable the export of high quality defence components to allied African nations.
