The Kano State Health Trust Fund (KHETFUND) has embarked on a post-funding verification visit to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital (MMSH) as part of its ongoing exercise to assess the proper utilization of funds disbursed to government health institutions and agencies across the state.
Speaking during the visit , the Executive Secretary of KHETFUND, Dr. Fatima Usman Zahraddeen, said the team was at the hospital to verify the impact of the ₦4.6 million intervention released for the accreditation of the Family Medicine Residency Training Programme.
She explained that the funding support aligns with the state government’s broader healthcare agenda aimed at expanding access to quality healthcare, strengthening medical training, and reducing dependency on external referrals.
Dr. Fatima emphasized that the post-funding verification exercise is designed to promote transparency, accountability, and measurable impact in all KHETFUND-supported interventions.
Receiving the delegation, the Chief Medical Director of Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Dr. Husaini Muhammad, expressed appreciation to KHETFUND for its continuous support in enhancing healthcare delivery and medical training.
The ₦4.6 million intervention, disbursed in June 2024, is part of the hospital’s efforts to meet the accreditation standards set by the West African College of Physicians (WACP).
The KHETFUND’s post-funding verification visits are being conducted across beneficiary institutions to ensure compliance with due process, promote effective resource utilization, and sustain accountability in the health sector.
