The Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board-KSPHCMB has commenced preparations for a Ramadan special health inspection exercise across all 44 local government areas of the state, aimed at ensuring safe and hygienic environments during the holy month.

Director General of the Board, Salisu Ahmed Ibrahim, convened a strategic meeting with Local Government Area health educators and Ward Environmental Health Officers at the Board’s headquarters to strengthen coordination and readiness ahead of the exercise.

Speaking during the engagement, Ibrahim said the initiative aligns with the health and sanitation priorities of Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration, stressing the importance of professionalism and ethical conduct during field operations.

He urged the officers to discharge their responsibilities with discipline, respect, and integrity, noting that their actions represent both the Board and the state government.

“The inspection exercise is critical to safeguarding public health, particularly during Ramadan, when increased food preparation and public gatherings require stricter adherence to hygiene and sanitation standards,” he said.

The Director General also reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to strengthening the capacity of health and environmental officers through continuous training and retraining programmes.

He noted that ongoing professional development would equip personnel with modern inspection skills, improve compliance with public health regulations, and enhance service delivery across all local government areas.

The Ramadan special inspection exercise is expected to focus on sanitation in markets, food vending locations, public facilities, and residential areas, as part of broader efforts to promote a healthy environment and prevent disease outbreaks during the fasting period.
