Federal Government has been urged to pay the outstanding benefits of retired workers as a mark of appreciation for their commitment and patriotism in serving the nation.

Elder statesman, Alhaji Jibril Bala Jos, made the appeal in an interview in Kaduna.

Alhaji Jibrin Bala was concerned over reports that such benefits estimated at billions of Naira had remained unpaid despite repeated assurances by the relevant authorities,

He expressed hope that everything possible would soon be made to settle the debt and stop proposed protests against the delay described as unfortunate.

The Elder also stressed the need for implementation of wage awards approved by President Bola Tinubu as motivation for improved productivity by the civil servants who contribute to the socio economic development of the nation.
