The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kaduna State Chapter, has joined the rest of the world in celebrating the International Day of the Girl Child, reaffirming its commitment to promoting the rights, education, and empowerment of girls.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairperson, Sahura Jibrin Maidoki, and the Secretary, Hadiza Bello Abdullahi, NAWOJ Kaduna emphasized the need for sustained investment in girls’ leadership, education, and digital inclusion as key steps toward building a more equitable society.

The association described the annual commemoration as a vital reminder of the challenges girls face, including discrimination, abuse, and limited access to opportunities.

It urged government agencies, development partners, and community leaders to intensify efforts toward protecting and empowering the girl child.

“Girls are the future of every community. When we invest in their education, safety, and leadership, we invest in the progress of our nation,” the statement read.

NAWOJ Kaduna also reaffirmed its commitment to using the media as a tool for advocacy, awareness, and positive representation of girls and women, pledging continued support for initiatives that promote gender equality and inclusion.

The association concluded by congratulating all girls on their special day, urging them to remain confident, resilient, and focused in the pursuit of their dreams.
