The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Kano Office, has conducted a capacity-building for NYSC corps members serving under the Emergency Management Vanguards (EMVs).
Participants were drawn from Community Development Service (CDS) groups in Tarauni and Dawakin Kudu Local Government Areas of Kano state.
The training was designed to strengthen corps members’ knowledge and skills as frontline agents of disaster risk reduction and community safety.

Speaking during the exercise, Head of Operations, NEMA Kano Jigawa territorial zone, Dr. Nura Abdullahi, urged the vanguards to remain dedicated to continuous learning.
He stressed that no knowledge is ever wasted and encouraged participants to share the knowledge gained with their host communities, noting that effective disaster response begins at the grassroots.

The sessions featured key modules, including: An Overview and Evolution of NEMA, Disaster Management and the Roles of NEMA/NYSC EMVs.
The participants demonstrated strong engagement throughout the training, actively contributing ideas and experiences that reinforced their commitment to enhancing community resilience and preparedness.
