Bakori district of Katsina state has launched tree planting aimed at reducing erosion in the area.

A statement by chairman, Agricultural committee, Cigarin Bakori said the District head of Bakori Makaman Katsina, Alhaji Garba Tukur idris called on people to stop indiscriminate cutting of the trees for environmental protection.

He stressed the need for enlightenment campaign on the importance of afforestation to economic development.

Alhaji Garba Tukur Idris said the District would ensure that the trees planted receive adequate attention to achieve the desired objective of preserving the environment.

The District head explained that the event also witnessed the distribution of food items and mats to victims of banditry in the district.

Alhaji Garba Tukur Idris reaffirmed the commitment of the Traditional leaders in the district toward assisting the less privilege in the society and providing good environment for healthy living.
