The Training and Doctrine Command of the Nigerian Army TRADOC in Niger state, says it has donated over ninety thousand exercise books to students in four primary and secondary schools within its cantonment in the last three years towards enhancing teaching and learning in school.

Among the four schools are, Command Day Secondary School, Army Day Secondary School, NOAWA School and the Command Children school respectively.

Commander TRADOC, Major General Kevin Aligbe stated this at the symbolic presentation of the exercise books to some students as part of activities marking the TRADOC Nigerian Army Library Day Study Period twenty twenty five held in Minna, the Niger state capital.

Major General Kevin Aligbe explained that over four thousand student spread across the four schools have so far benefitted from such gesture, stressing that about eighty percent of the students were children of members of host community, leaving the twenty percent for children of soldiers.

According to him majority of the students who are children of members of the host community were not discriminated they received the same treatment accorded to children of officers and men of the Nigerian Army in TRADOC inline with its corporate social responsibility, that is military civil relations.

He however maintained that they have been intentional in inculcating the reading culture to both students and officers and men of TRADOC Nigerian Army said the exercise book will last for the entire year for students, in which each student will receive six exercise book, pencil, erasers, biros and rulers.

Major General Kevin Aligbe commended the  Chief Of Army Staff Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede for his support at all times which he said was responsible for most of the successes they have recorded, and also applauded members of sister agencies as well as officers and men of TRADOC Nigerian Army for their support and  understanding and called for more to succeed.

In a welcome address the Director Army Training Support Centre, Major General Auwal Mamuda Gumel, lamented that the important role played by library has not been properly and fully harnessed, and expressed confidence that participants would come up with workable solutions to address such problems.

He applauded the Commander TRADOC Major General Kevin Aligbe for his immense support in ensuring the event and assured him of their readiness to contribute their quota towards achieving greater height.

Presenting the paper on “Reviving Reading Culture On The Nigerian Army Personnel, Major Khamis Abba of the Education Corp TRADOC Nigerian Army, maintained that robust reading culture developed operational effectiveness on Army Personnel, and increase their psychological well-being while contributing to national security effectively.

A paper on Enhancing Military Equipment was also presented and discussed extensively by the Academia, experts and participants.
