Zamfara State government has launched the distribution of 408,137 teaching and learning materials, which it described as one of the largest single investments in institutional resources in the state’s history.
The State Governor, Dr. Dauda Lawal while flagging off the distribution in Gusau emphasized that the initiative reflects his administration’s commitment to giving teachers the right tools to succeed, while pupils have adequate materials to learn effectively.

Governor Lawal also acknowledged the contributions of partners, particularly the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), which provided over 77,000 additional teaching and learning materials while UNICEF donated 5,000 climate change and education early warning handbooks.
According to him, the handbooks would help in enriching children with vital knowledge of environmental responsibility and preparedness.
Dr. Dauda Lawal explained that, every sector from healthcare and infrastructure to agriculture, technology, and security draws its strength from education.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to revamping the education sector as part of efforts to rebuild the state.
Also speaking, the representative of the Executive Secretary, Universal Basic Education Commission UBEC, Mohammed Nafiu Yusuf expressed the commission’s readiness to supporting Zamfara and other states in strengthening basic education delivery.

Mr. Yusuf urged the state government to upgrade the state’s training center into a modern facility.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Maryam Yahaya Shantali described the distribution as a milestone in Governor Lawal’s Rescue Education Mission.
Marayam Shantali noted that the present administration has prioritized basic education by paying inherited examination fees, offering scholarships, rehabilitating dilapidated schools, and providing water, sanitation, and furniture to create a conducive learning atmosphere.
The Permanent Secretary also highlighted ongoing recruitment and training of teachers, as well as interventions targeted at vulnerable groups, including girls, children with disabilities, and out-of-school children.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board, Professor Nasiru Garba Anka appreciated the unwavering support of UBEC and UNICEF for providing some essential resources, which according to him will enhance the quality of education in schools.
“To our partners, collaborators, and volunteers, your dedication and commitment to improving education outcomes are truly commendable. Your efforts will have a lasting impact on the lives of our students and teachers”.
He reminded the stakeholders on the significance of collective action in shaping the future of children.
