The Zamfara State House of Assembly has called on Governor Dauda Lawal to suspend the Chairman of the Zamfara Road Traffic Agency (ZAROTA), MB Musa, over allegations of financial misappropriation amounting to more than 11 million naira.
The resolution was reached during the Assembly’s sitting on Wednesday, following the submission of a report by the House Committee on Ethics, chaired by Rilwanu Marafa Anka.
Presenting the report, Anka said the committee uncovered the alleged financial scandal after tracing the inflow of the agency’s funds and discovering how they were diverted without due process.
He noted that it was necessary to take immediate disciplinary action by suspending the chairman pending the submission of a final comprehensive report.
According to a statement by the Assembly’s Press Secretary, Bello Madoro Kurya, several lawmakers commended the committee for its efforts and expressed support for the suspension until investigations are concluded.
After unanimous approval, the Deputy Speaker, Adamu Aliyu Gummi, who presided over the sitting, announced that the House had deliberated and adopted the committee’s report, and formally urged Governor Lawal to suspend the ZAROTA chairman on an interim basis pending the outcome of the investigation.
