Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to working with stakeholders to achieve sustainable revenue growth without burdening citizens.
The state Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, stated this during an advocacy visit by the Brain Builder Youth Development Initiative (BBYDI) to her office in Ilorin.
She emphasized the need for all stakeholders to support ongoing tax reforms to enhance accountability, transparency, and efficient service delivery, as well as building a robust and equitable tax system that drives shared prosperity.
According to her, the State has reviewed its revenue processes to streamline operations and improve the ease of doing business across the revenue value chain.
She also highlighted the ongoing infrastructure revolution as the backbone for economic growth and development in the state.
Dr. Nuru further noted the strides in land administration reforms, such as improved land titling, issuing certificates of occupancy, and digitizing land records to ensure transparency and accessibility for citizens and investors.
Earlier in his remarks, Programme Officer Brain Builder Youth Development Initiative (BBYDI) , Ramat Owolabi stressed the importance of collaboration with the government on tax compliance and grievance resolution.
She noted that the organization’s focus on budget literacy, stakeholder involvement, and system integration aligns with the State’s push for an inclusive, technology-driven tax administration.
Owolabi commended the state government’s transparent and growth-oriented tax policies, particularly those supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
