Kebbi State Government has dismissed rumors circulating on social media and some conventional platforms alleging that the fertilizer procured by the government was mixed with sand and unfit for farming.
The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Shehu Mu’azu, made the clarification while briefing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
He explained that Governor Dr. Nasiru Idris (Kauran Gwandu) did not award any contract for the procurement of fertilizer. Instead, the governor supported local producers to supply farmers in the state with quality fertilizer for the rainy season farming.

According to him, the allegation was raised by the opposition party specifically ADC who are not wishing goods to the state, adding that, the allegations are baseless as no any company is wishing to adulterated his products.
The Commissioner further explained that, the state governor purchased ten trucks of organic fertilizer for distribution to farmers as now farmers are leaving chemical fertilizer to organic.
He called on the people of the state to always wish good for the state and its policies and programmes, adding that Kebbi State Government has not awarded any contract for the procurement of fertilizer for 2025 farming season.
He further explained that, three fertilizer companies were engaged by State Government for the supply of fertilizer which are Maccat Agro Limited, Danmadami Fertilizer blending plant and Contect Agro Allied Global Ltd While Mairiga company was engaged by the Local Governments for the procurement of the fertilizer
Mu’azu added that, the claims by the ADC to the effect that the Governor has awarded a contract for the procurement of fertilizer is false, null and void and if anyone want to verify this, the records are here and the companies are there.
After the briefing, the Commissioner displayed all the brands of fertilizer including the organic fertilizer and chemical fertilizer to show the glaring difference
