Kaduna State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Malam Ahmed Maiyaki as the Commissioner for Information and a member of the State Executive Council.
The confirmation was announced during Thursday’s plenary session, presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Dahiru Liman, at the Assembly Complex in Kaduna.
Earlier, the Clerk of the House, Barrister Sakinatu Hassan Idris, read a formal communication from the Executive arm of government, requesting the screening and confirmation of Malam Maiyaki for the portfolio.
Speaking during the session, the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Mr. Henry Marah, described the nominee as a seasoned and dedicated journalist, commending his years of service to the people of Kaduna State across various strategic roles.
Following his confirmation, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki told Radio Nigeria Kaduna that he is committed to revitalising the Ministry of Information, which had been dormant for nearly a decade.
He emphasized that under his leadership, the Ministry will focus on democratising communication between the government and citizens, ensuring transparency, responsiveness, and public engagement in governance.
Before his appointment as Commissioner of Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki was the current Managing Director of Kaduna State Media Corporation.
