Former Minister of Defence, Lt. General Theophilus Danjuma (Rtd), has re-launched the country’s foremost iodised salt brand, Union Dicon Salt (UDS), after twenty-one years of absence from the market.

In a statement by the Media Relations Officer of DICON, Lt Christopher Agu, the event held at the kirikiri light terminal, phase two, Apapa in Lagos State.

Represented by the Director General of the DICON, Major General Babatunde Alaya, the Former Minister tasked the DICON to explore measures for the expansion of the UDS to restore its lost glory in the salt industry.

Major General Babatunde Alaya charged staff of the factory to live above board and work hard for a better future.

In her remarks, the acting Managing Director of the factory, Mrs Florence Iroye recalled that over the years, efforts in reviving the company had been challenging.

She pointed out that in 2004, the production facility was shut down, but the dream of reviving the company never died.

Highpoint of the event was the commissioning and a facility tour of the factory.

The event was attended by UDS board members, shareholders, consultants,UDS external solicitors among others.
