The federal government is working assiduously to discourage medical tourism abroad by strengthening the country’s healthcare system.
Registrar Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria, Dr Bashir Idris Lifidin Jama’a stated this during an event organised by the staff of the board to celebrate his reappointment by President Bola Ahmad Tinubu in Abuja.
He noted that medical tourism is a challenge affecting the health system, but expressed optimism the federal government is working out modalities to address it.
Dr Bashir Idris advocated for the deployment of more equipment, resources and manpower to discourage doctors and nurses going overseas for greener pastures.
He assured that the board will continue to contribute its quota towards addressing the challenges being faced by the health industry, considering the effort federal government is making to enhance the healthcare system in the country.
In a remark, a former member of the National Assembly from southern part of Kaduna state, Senator Danjuma La’ah commended the Registrar of the board, Dr Bashir Idris Lifidin Jama’a for his commitment and dedication in impacting so many lives across the country since his assumption of office.
