former Provost of the School of Nursing Katsina and current Provost of Cherish College of Nursing and Midwifery Katsina, Dr. Abdullahi Halliru, has called for stronger collaboration between the state government and the college management to produce professional medical personnel across the state.
Dr. Halliru Calls for Stronger Govt–College Collaboration to Boost Medical Manpower in Katsina
Dr Halliru made the call while speaking to newsmen in Katsina on the recent reopening of their college for continuation of their academic activities.
He said that, the college meets all the requirements needed by the state ministry of health for effective teaching and learning to take place in the institution adding that, the collaboration between state government and the college will bring a lot of development academically.
According to him, their are some areas need urgent attention which to include expansion of the college, additional classes among others so that many students would got admitted into the college.
The Provost further explained that, the college will soon commence National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programs as the college get full accreditation of the courses as well as 42 trained teachers from different fields.
Dr Halliru also explained that, the college have it’s own hospital 250 bedded in Batsari local government area of the state, demonstration rooms, Auditorium laboratories among other edifice needed in institutions like this.
He added that, 80 percent of their students are working across the country as they graduate more than 400 best nurses from the college adding that state government is also giving scholarship to indigent students in the state.
In her contribution, the Deputy Provost of the college Dr Fatima Abdullahi said the college was established in June 2019 by the former minister of Agriculture and water resources Late Abba Sayyadi Ruma to curtail the hardship being faced by the Nigerian youth seeking admission in health institutions.
