Member representing Kauran Namoda–Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency in Zamfara State, Alhaji Aminu Sani Jaji, has called on the Federal Government to restrategise its efforts in addressing the escalating insecurity in his constituency.

Alhaji Aminu Jaji made the call while addressing National Assembly correspondents, expressing concern over the recent incessant attacks on his constituents by bandits.

He explained that the bandits have abducted over 200 people two weeks ago, another 60 people were abducted in Banga, 10 of them were later killed because the community could not raise N30 million ransom demanded by the abductors.

The lawmaker stressed that as his constituents were grieving, bandits launched fresh attacks on Gabake and Kungurki villages last Tuesday abducting 25 people leaving many with various degrees of injuries currently receiving medical attention.

Aminu Jaji, lauded the effort of the federal and Zamfara state government in fighting insecurity in the state described as illogical to declare emergency rule in Zamfara State when over 20 states of the federation were also faced with security challenges.

“If you declare a state of emergency in Zamfara, you might as well declare it in more than 20 other states. Insecurity is a national crisis, not a regional one. This is no longer a political matter. It is a humanitarian disaster. If we fail to act now, the entire country will be consumed”

He maintained that as communities are preparing to go back to their farm for this year’s rainy season it s necessary for the relevant security agencies to embark on a sustained operations against crime and criminal in the state to allow people engage in mass production.

On the issue of reconciling with the bandits the lawmaker described the idea as unrealistic since the fact that previous governments have entered into similar deals with the criminals nothing positive was achieved.

Alhaji Aminu Jaji, who was the chairman house Committee on security and intelligence in the 8th Assembly appealed to his constituents to support the security with relevant information capable of helping them to clamp down the activities of bandits in the state.
