Zamfara State Local Government Service Commission, in collaboration with the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), has organized a three-day workshop on Emerging Trends in Human Resource Management.

The training targets Directors of Administration, Planning Officers, and other key staff from the 14 local government areas of the state.

The Secretary of the Local Government Service Commission, Alhaji Shafiu Buhari, disclosed this during the flagging off the training programme in Gusau, the state capital.

According to Shafiu, the aim of the workshop was to enhance the capacity and efficiency of local government staff to meet current global administrative standards.

He emphasized that, the world is constantly changing, they must to train their staff to embrace modern practice.

“That is why we partnered with the ITF to organize this training to build the capacity of our workforce and shift from outdated administrative traditions to modern global practices.”

Alhaji Buhari further noted that the entire training, logistics was fully sponsored by the Local Government Service Commission under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Dauda Lawal.

He urged the participants to pay adequate attention to acquire the needed knowledge for the training.

Speaking also at the event, the Director of Administration and Training of the Commission, Bilyaminu Mehaja, emphasized that one of the core mandates of the Commission is to build the capacity of local government staff.

“We regularly organize training for various cadres of staff of local government. Today’s Workshop on Emerging Trends in Human Resources Management is important because of the dynamic nature of today’s administrative systems,”

Mehaja highlighted the importance of integrating modern technologies in administrative duties, particularly the use of computers, which he said has become essential in today’s workplace.

“In this era of constant innovation, it’s important our staff are equipped to adapt to change and apply new knowledge in their work. This training is part of our strategy to prepare them for future challenges,”

A total of 44 participants are attending the training, drawn from Directors, Planning Officers, and other relevant officials from all the 14 local government areas in the state.

At the end of the training, participants are expected to cascade the knowledge gained to their subordinates through step-down training, thereby strengthening institutional performance across the local governments.

The three day workshop is currently taking place at the Industrial Training Fund office in Gusau, the Zamfara State Capital.
