The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim community in Nigeria on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, said in a statement that the IGP stressed the spiritual importance of Ramadan and urged Nigerians to uphold the virtues of self-discipline, tolerance, and compassion cultivated during the period to foster national unity and peaceful coexistence.
To ensure a secure and hitch-free celebration, the IGP has directed Commissioners of Police (CPs), Tactical Commanders, and their supervisory Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to implement robust security measures across the country.
Officers have been mandated to intensify intelligence-led patrols, surveillance operations, and stop-and-search duties around Eid prayer grounds, recreational centers, and other public spaces to prevent any security breaches.
The IGP, while urging citizens to celebrate in a peaceful and law-abiding manner, also called on the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
