Thousands of devoted Muslim faithfuls, including Governor Dauda Lawal have gathered at the Eid Ground in Gusau, the Zamfara State Capital, to mark the end of Ramadan fasting by observing the two Raka’at prayer.
The Eid prayer was led by Sheikh Liman Dan Alhaji Sambo at the main Eid ground in Gusau.
In his sermon after the prayers, Sheikh Liman Dan Alhaji Sambo emphasized the need for the Muslim Ummah, particularly women, to respect their husbands and honor the value attached to them by religious virtue.
He also urged Muslims to uphold the lessons learned from Ramadan and highlighted the significance of fasting for six days in the month of Shawwal.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the prayers, Governor Dauda Lawal called on the people of Zamfara State to embrace unity and peace as they celebrate Eid-el-Fitr.
Dr. Lawal urged Muslims in the state and beyond to reflect on the sacrifices and devotion to Allah demonstrated during the holy month.
He emphasized the importance of upholding the virtues instilled by Ramadan, including discipline, patience, and generosity.
“The challenges before us are significant, and overcoming them requires collective effort and cooperation. Let us set aside our differences and support the government’s mission to rescue and rebuild our dear state,” he stated.
Governor Lawal also commended religious and community leaders for their continued efforts in fostering harmony and promoting shared values.
“May Allah (SWT) accept our acts of worship, forgive our shortcomings, and bless our state and the nation with lasting peace and prosperity. Eid Mubarak!”
The festive occasion was graced by a diverse congregation, including families, parents, and children, who came together to offer their prayers and celebrate the spirit of unity and gratitude.
Among the prominent attendees were the Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Mani Malam Mumini; the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Nakwada; and the Chief of Staff, Mukhtar Lugga, Speaker Zamfara State House of Assembly alongside other government officials who joined thousands of worshippers.
The Sarkin Katsinan Gusau, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello, was also present, further elevating the solemnity and unity of the occasion as he observed the two Raka’at prayers.
Similarly, security agencies and road safety officials were deployed to ensure the smooth conduct of the large gathering.
Various security agencies played a vital role in maintaining security within and outside the mosque, while the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) managed traffic, allowing worshippers to focus on their prayers and festivities.
