The Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed the neutralization of a large number of bandits, including the notorious kingpin, Dan Isuhu Mudale, who had been terrorizing Tsafe and its surrounding communities.
In a statement, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to eliminate crime and restore public confidence in Zamfara State.
According to the statement, at approximately 1540hrs, a good Samaritan alerted security forces that a large group of armed bandits had stormed Keta town in Tsafe Local Government area, intending to unleash terror on residents.
In response, a joint security team comprising the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU), local hunters, and the Community Protection Guard (CPG) was swiftly mobilized.
It says the team engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, successfully repelling the attack and inflicting heavy casualties on the criminals.
According to the statement, the operation has resulted in the loss of one PMF officer, four CPG members, and two hunters, who paid the ultimate sacrifice while defending the community.
Additionally, two hunters sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau.
The Zamfara State Police Command reassured residents of its unwavering commitment to restoring peace and security in the state.
The Command urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies for prompt action.
