The Minister of State for Works, Alhaji Bello Goronyo, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to the timely completion of the 750-kilometer Sokoto-Gusau-Funtua-Zaria road reconstruction project.

Speaking during an inspection tour of the ongoing project, Goronyo emphasized that the visit was part of President Bola Tinubu’s directive to ensure that infrastructure projects are executed as scheduled to enhance road usability.

He urged contractors and officials handling the project to adhere strictly to contractual agreements by ensuring both speed and quality in execution.

“I am leading a team, including the Permanent Secretary and other ministry officials, to inspect projects across Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, and Kano states. Our goal is to guarantee quality and seamless execution,” the minister stated.

Goronyo further noted that President Tinubu deserves public support ahead of the 2027 general elections due to his dedication to impactful legacy projects that would benefit Nigerians.

Similarly, during a courtesy visit to Governor Dauda Lawal at the Zamfara State Government House, the minister reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to sustained investment in road infrastructure nationwide.

He highlighted that, the ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction of various road projects would significantly boost key sectors such as transportation, infrastructure, the economy, and security once completed.

“President Tinubu is passionate about Nigeria’s development,” he said.

“His administration has initiated several legacy projects across the country, including the Illela-Sokoto-Badagry Super-Highway and the Lagos-Calabar Highway among others.”

He added that the ongoing road reconstruction projects span all six geopolitical zones, stressing the President’s directive to ensure quality work from contractors.

The minister also revealed that the inspection tour had begun in Kebbi and Sokoto states for the Illela-Sokoto-Badagry Super-Highway project, and the team had visited Zamfara to assess the reconstruction and dualization of the Zaria-Gusau-Mafara-Sokoto Highway.

“President Tinubu was deeply concerned about the poor state of Nigerian roads when he assumed office, particularly the Zaria-Gusau-Sokoto Highway,” Goronyo noted.

He expressed satisfaction with the progress of work of the federal road projects in Zamfara, the minister appealed to the state government to enhance security measures for ongoing projects.

“We seek collaboration with the Zamfara State Government to ensure adequate security coverage for these projects,” he said.

He also commended the state government’s urban renewal initiatives, describing them as a transformative agenda for Zamfara’s development under Governor Dauda Lawal.

Responding, Governor Dauda Lawal, represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House Gusau, Malam Mukhtar Lugga, appreciated the minister’s visit.

Dr. Lawal reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting the Federal Government in executing developmental projects in Zamfara.

He also acknowledged the infrastructural projects initiated by President Tinubu’s administration in Zamfara and the broader Northwest geopolitical zone.
