The Kano state government has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the welfare of workers, following reports of disparities in salaries.
Secretary to the state government, Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim, stated this while addressing journalists during a media briefing, Held at the SSG’s Office Kano.
He said a due various outcry by civil servants on the salary discrepancies of the month of February, a committee has been constituted to investigate the discrepancies, and already submitted it’s report which is before governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
“His Excellency is closely working on the report with a view to take the next line of Action”.
The Secretary to the state government noted that to ensure that such discrepancies do not occur in the subsequent months collaboration has been enhanced between ministries and agencies to ensure adequate payment of salaries.
” To ensure prudent payment of the March Salaries, a Coordinating committee has been set, headed by the State Head of Service Alhaji Abdullahi Musa and eight other members “.
He said Salaries will be printed and submitted to ministries for scrutiny and also for the civil servants to verify before payment of the March Salaries.
Regarding civil servants who have not received salaries for four months, Ibrahim explained that they had refused to attend the verification exercise last year, hence to receive payment, they must provide a diligent reason for their absence through their ministries and agencies.
The state government is committed to prudent and efficient salary payments, ensuring the welfare of its workers.
