The Kano State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, has called on the public to support the government’s efforts to reposition the health sector.
Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf made the call at an interview with newsmen in Kano.
The commissioner emphasized the need for citizens to protect health structures and equipment from vandalism and unpatriotic activities.
Dr Abubakar explained that, as part of the government’s efforts to improve healthcare delivery, the state government has commenced the upgrade of some health facilities to general hospitals.
According to him, this move aims to provide easier access to healthcare services, especially for those in distant Local Government Areas (LGAs).
The commissioner noted that the government is committed to providing a functional primary health facility in every political ward across the 44 LGAs In Kano.
He also emphasized the need to provide each LGA with a general hospital and qualified staff to handle various ailments.
Dr. Yusuf cautioned health workers against harassing patients, stressing that the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf will not tolerate such behavior.
He emphasized the importance of quality patient care and urged health workers to adhere to the rules and regulations of their profession.
The commissioner commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for renovating and upgrading health facilities at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels.
This move is in line with the governor’s campaign promises to improve healthcare delivery in the state.
Radio Nigeria reports that, few months ago the state government launched the distribution of free maternity kits to pregnant women, health facilities tour, in addition to free uniforms for medical staff and other initiatives aimed at boosting effective healthcare service delivery.
