The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede has arrived at the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, in Gusau, Zamfara State.

Upon arrival, General Oluyede inspected a guard of honor and received salutes from the troops.

He is currently in a closed-door meeting with the Theatre Commander of Operation Fansan Yamma, Major General Oluyinka Soyele, along with other senior military officers overseeing operations in the state.

Following the meeting, Lieutenant General Oluyede is expected to brief journalists on the purpose of his visit to Zamfara State.

As part of his visit, the Army Chief is also expected to tour the Gusau Army Cantonment and other military formations.

 

Although the purpose of the visit has not been officially disclosed, it is believed to be linked to the ongoing security challenges in Zamfara State, which has been grappling with banditry and other security threats.
