Jigawa State Executive Council has approved the report submitted by the Committee on Safety of Schools, Health Institutions, and Courts across the state.

The Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed, disclosed this after the council meeting held at the Government House, Dutse.

According to him, the report recommends the implementation of preventive security strategies to ensure maximum protection for primary and secondary schools, high courts, magistrate and shari’a courts, primary health centers, and general hospitals across the state.

He further explained that, the council has sanctioned the engagement of private indigenous security companies, employing 9,972 Jigawa State youth from the respective communities to serve as security personnel, fostering local employment and community-driven security solutions.

Alhaji Sagir Musa said, the Council has also approved the review of the state environmental policy and the amendment of key environmental laws which include wild animals and bush burning laws.

Others also include the compulsory monthly sanitation exercise law and
the environmental protection agency (JISEPA) law.

He further explained that the council has approved the engagement of private indigenous security companies, employing 9,972 youths from various communities in Jigawa State as security personnel. This initiative aims to foster local employment and promote community-driven security solutions.

He noted that, these reforms reflect the administration’s dedication to environmental sustainability through well-structured policies that inspire collective action and responsible environmental stewardship.

The Commissioner said, the council has approved the sum of over 421 Million naira for compensating property owners affected by the demolition of structures in Gindin-Dunya, Dutse.

He pointed out that, the measure is aimed at enhancing security and improving the overall societal well-being in the area.

Sagir, added that, the council has approved over 112 million naira as waiver of costs on seeds, fertilizers, agro-chemicals, and labour for 335 flood victims currently enrolled in the state rice millionaire project.

He said, the council has extended the repayment period for solar pumps and panels by two additional farming seasons, beginning with the current wheat-growing season.

The commissioner noted that, this initiative is part of Governor Umar Namadi’s broader vision to uplift young farmers, boost agricultural productivity, strengthen economic stability across the state through access to essential resources, training, and financial support.
