No fewer than Seven (7 ) Kwara state hospital pharmacy departments have secured accreditation from the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) to operate as internship training centers for graduate pharmacists.
In a statement, the Executive Secretary of Kwara state Hospital Management Board, Dr. Abdulraheem Malik says the accreditation for the pharmacy department of state hospitals were lost 20 years ago.
According to the statement, the hospital can resume the training of intern pharmacists from all schools of pharmacy in Nigeria that it lost 2 decades ago.
The statement says due diligence was observed throughout the accreditation process, adding that all facilities were required to meet specific pre-conditions before receiving approval.
It explains that the re-accreditation marks a significant boost for the health sector under the current administration, noting that it will help in further closing manpower gaps.
Dr. Malik assured the Board’s commitment towards supervising and monitoring all the accredited facilities to ensure sustained improvements in healthcare service delivery in the state.
He furthered points that, processing has also commenced to secure accreditations to begin the training of intern nurses and medical laboratory scientists.
