Jigawa State Government has officially Inaugurated the Auyo-Ayama Road, marking a major step in its efforts to enhance infrastructure and promote socioeconomic development.

In a statement, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Jigawa State, Hamisu Mohammed Gumel, highlights that the 9.5-kilometer road, built for ₦3.8 billion, is to enhance connectivity and facilitate transportation for residents.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by key dignitaries, including the Minister of Defence and former governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, who served as the Special Guest of Honour.

It states that government officials, traditional rulers, and community members also attended the occasion to celebrate the completion of the much-needed road.

Governor Mallam Umar Namadi highlighted that the project was extended to Ayama based on requests from local communities.

He noted that the road was reinforced with hydraulic structures, embankment protections, and elevation enhancements to mitigate flooding, ensuring durability and long-term benefits for the people.

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to completing inherited projects before initiating new ones.

He revealed that 90% of the 26 inherited road projects had been completed, with only two remaining roads set to be finished soon.

So far, over ₦50.7 billion has been spent on settling completed projects across the state.

Beyond inherited projects, Jigawa State has embarked on a massive road expansion program, launching 47 new road projects spanning 977 kilometers at a cost of ₦304 billion.

These projects include regional roads, feeder roads, township roads, and rehabilitations, all aimed at improving connectivity and fostering economic growth.

Governor Namadi assured residents that the new projects are progressing well, with some sites already exceeding 60% completion within a few months.

He described the initiative as a strategic investment to drive economic development and improve the standard of living for the people of Jigawa.

The Minister of Defence, Alhaji Badaru Abubakar, commended the Jigawa State Government for its commitment to infrastructure development, emphasizing that good road networks play a crucial role in security, commerce, and ease of movement.

The commissioning of the Auyo-Ayama Road further solidifies Jigawa’s position as a leader in road infrastructure development in Nigeria.
