The Hadejia Wetlands National Park (HWNP) has emphasized the significant roles national parks play in biodiversity conservation, mitigating climate change, promoting research and development, and providing employment opportunities in Nigeria.
Acting Conservator of the Park, Mr. Jonah Moses, stated this during an advocacy visit to the National Orientation Agency (NOA) office in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.

He highlighted that these benefits can only become more visible to the public if the NOA utilizes its extensive structures and platforms to educate and sensitize residents through public enlightenment initiatives.
Mr Jonah Moses explained that, the visit was aimed at familiarizing himself with critical stakeholders such the NOA which can assist in driving home the HWNP mandates.
He pointed out that the Hadejia Wetlands National Park was transformed from the Baturiya Game Reserve after the Jigawa State Government recently handed over the forest to the Federal Government.

In response, the Jigawa State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Malam Ahmad Tijjani Ibrahim, commended the Conservator of the HWNP and his team for their bold initiative.
He noted that the agency prioritizes issues related to climate change, having established a department focused on the environment, climate, and energy.
The NOA Director assured the delegation of the agency’s readiness to mobilize citizen support and promote public engagement in the park’s activities.
