Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Kano State Command has confirmed that 14 people have been killed and several others injured after a trailer ran into worshippers during Jumu’at prayers in Kano.

The tragic incident occurred at Imawa town, Kura Local Government Area of Kano State, shortly after the Friday prayer.

The trailer, with registration number MKA 537XN, was coming from the Kaduna axis when the driver lost control and crashed into the crowd.

Ibrahim Abdullahi, the FRSC Kano Sector Commander, stated that the accident was reported at 1350hrs.

A statement reads,’’ Upon receiving the distress call, FRSC Kano State Command promptly dispatched personnel to the scene, alongside other security agencies, to initiate rescue operations and provide immediate medical assistance to the injured victims.’’

He noted that nine of the deceased were buried in the afternoon, and the injured are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.

The Sector Commander extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and reiterated the FRSC’s commitment to road safety.

He urged road users to strictly adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such avoidable tragedies.
