The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency ( NDLEA)Kwara state Command has called for the collaboration of all stakeholders to prevent drug abuse and make the society better.
The state commander of the agency , Mohammed Ibrahim made the call while speaking at the commemoration of year 2024-International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking, themed “The Evidence is Clear:-Invest In Prevention”, organised by the agency in collaborate with the state government in Ilorin.
According to him prevention of drug abuse has been adjudged as the best way of reducing drug trafficking to the minimum.

Commander Ibrahim said all hands must be on deck to ensure that the activities of drug traffickers is reduced.
He said the agency has recorded considerable progress with the adoption of prevention mechanism.
The NDLEA Commander explained that the hostile nature being experienced in the communities has subsided, adding that the residents now gives information on the activities of drug traffickers in their areas.
Commander Ibrahim appealed for more investment in areas of prevention of drug abuse , noting that prevention is better than cure.

In his address Kwara state governor,AbdulRahman AbdulRazq, represented by the state Commisssioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam said there is the need to invest in prevention to break the circle of suffering associated with drug addiction.
She said when people are addicted to drug use, they loose body mass and death may occure.
Dr El-Imam advised the youths to shun reckless life style and drug abuse.

In a remark the guest speaker at the occasion, Pharmacist Grace Aliyu advised parents to have interest in the activities of their children to save them from joining bad gang.
On her part the chairperson ,Kwara state Drug Control Committee, Pharmacist, Barakat Olanrewaju said with the new approach adopted, the state will drop from it’s 14 percent prevalent position in drug abuse.
She also commended the state first lady for supporting the fight against drug trafficking.
