Reports from Niger State indicate that heavy rainfall has washed away a mother and her grown-up daughter in Minna, the state capital.

The incident occurred on Saturday when they went out together to accomplish their mining mission at a mining site around the PDP Secretariat bypass, Maitumbi, close to El Amin University Minna, up to M I Wushishi Housing Estate.

Suddenly, the grown-up daughter began to drown due to the intensity of the rain, prompting her mother to give her a helping hand. Unfortunately, they were both swept away by the heavy downpour.

The two victims were reported to have been residing in Sayako, Maitumbi, Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State.

At the time of filing this report, their whereabouts are still unknown.

It could be recalled that the Niger State Government has, on several occasions, banned mining activities in the state.
