Today’s senate proceedings began at about 830am , the Clark National Assembly Sani Magaji Tambawal he precised over the sitting
Senator Ali Ndume Borno south was given the floor and then forwarded the nomination of senator Godswil Akpabio to take the chair of senate president
His nomination was seconded by senator Solomon Olamelekon and the nominee Godswill Akpabio accepted the nomination .
Similarly senator Elesha Agbo from Adamawa state nominated senator Abdulazuz Yari Abubakar after seconding , the nominee Abdulazuz Yari accepted the nomination
However senator Mystapha Monguno raised a
Point if order going against the nomination of Abdulazuz Yari qouting rule 3(1 ) that he has not been a senator so he cannot to be nominated
But some people argued that order 2 rule 2 says who ever run for legislature can contest for the position, meaning since Yari was an Hon member he has the right to contest for the position
The clarck Sani Magaji Tambawal over ruled and allowed Yari to accept the nomination
The clarck then asked for if any nomination but nobody come forward and he closed nomination and ordered to start issueing ballot papers
Similarly
House of representatives has commenced the role call of members elect ahead of the formal inauguration of the 10 the Assembly.
The roll call was taken by the house Clerk Dr Yahya Dan-zaria and concluded by quarter pass nine in the morning.
The roll call was part of procedures to pave a way for members to elect their Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
Radio Nigeria correspondent in the house of Representatives reports that members of the electoral committee have been on ground since 7 o’clock for to ensure smooth conduct of the election.
However, Security have been beeped in and outside the National Assembly since yesterday to monitor the people’s movement and conduct in an orderly manner.
