Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike says he is not surprised that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council has called off its rally in the state.

Governor Wike, who is still a member of the party, said the decision was “expected” because “none of the members” have the political clout to mobilise an encouraging number of supporters for the rally.

Mr Project, as the governor is fondly called by his supporters, described those put in charge of the Atiku campaign as “not having the political capacity” to mobilise supporters in Rivers State.

Mr Wike and four other PDP governors in Nigeria’s southern region have, for several months, demanded that the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu resigns before they can fully support Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the February 25 presidential polls.
