
Former Governor of Jigawa state Dr Sule Lamido says leaders who studied at Government College Birnin Kudu have failed the education sector in the state.
He stated this during the Annual general meeting of the Government College Birnin Kudu Old Boys Association BIKOBA held in Birnin Kudu local government of the state.
“When most of us are in school, We are comfortable, the schools hostels are very neat likewise the learning environment”.
Dr Sule Lamido said, leaders now neglect the education sector especially basic and post basic schools.
He recalled that during their time education and health were the priorities of government agenda followed by other important projects and programmes that would enhance the development of Nigeria.
Lamido therefore, appealed to leaders to look into education sectors and necessary structures with a view to have another sets of great generation.
In a speech, Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa state represented by the Secretary to the State Government appreciated the tireless efforts in ensuring that the association live and united.
Also, the Emir of Dutse Alhaji Dr. Nuhu Muhammadu Sunusi expressed gratitude for witnessing the event that united many prominent people from across the country.
He prayed for the association’s progress and the leaders to redouble efforts towards the good work they were doing in uplifting BIKOBA.
Earlier, the President of the association Alhaji Ja’afar Usman Muhammad said presently, Government college Birnin Kudu accommodates over 2000 students.
He pointed out that, the aim of the association is to inculcate unity and brotherhood amongst the members and principally support the school to maintain its excellent standard in educational and human development.
Radio Nigeria reports that Government College Birnin Kudu was established in 1951 and had graduated prominent Nigerians which include Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state and former Governor Sule Lamido among other prominent personalities.
Yet the school needed renovation and conducive learning atmosphere that include Hostels, classrooms, laboratories roads among other critical infrastructures.
