Kano Hisbah Commences Evacuation Of Female Street Hawkers

Kano state Hisbah Board has commenced evacuation of female street hawkers within the metropolitan local government areas.

Deputy commander general women wing, Malama Ummulkulsum Kasim made the disclosure shortly after evacuating some female night street sellers at sabon Titi market, kumbotso local government area.

According to her, most of those engaging in night businesses are under age girls selling groundnut, tiger nut, onion, cola nut, ground nut biscuit, vegetables among others.

She highlighted that, some were sighted at markets, motor parks, road side mechanics workshops and other places selling their goods during the night.

The Deputy commander general pointed out that, the large number of young girls roaming the streets under the guise of hawking was alarming, saying that the Board would not relent in it’s efforts of sanitizing Kano free of all forms of vices.

Malama Ummulkulsum charged parents and guardians to inculcate good moral values on their children through education and protecting them against harm, adding that Islam prohibits maltreating women and preaches special care, due to their immense contributions to the development of the society.

Also speaking, Vice Chairman, Sabon Titi market association, Malam Salisu Rabi’u Kwankwaso described night hawking as a major catalyst to societal vices in the state.

He noted that, the market association had on several occasions tried to ban night hawking, but could not go far due to harrasment and lack of cooperation from the public.

Malam Salisu appealed to Kano state Hisbah Board to maintain the tempo to achieve the desired objectives.

Some of those apprehended who spoke to Radio Nigeria, appealed for leniency and promised to inform their parents about the new development.

Radio Nigeria reports that, few days ago Kano state Hisbah Board succeeded in apprehending 19 youths at a popular event center during the commencement of a gay marriage.
