National Drug Law Enforcement Agency-NDLEA says it has recorded tremendous successes in the fight against drug abuse in Kaduna State.

State Commander of the Agency, Mr Umar Isah Adoro disclosed this when he hosted members of Kaduna State Chapter of Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria at the Command’s headquarters.

Mr Umar Isah Adoro explained that from January this year to date, the Agency arrested over Nine Hundred suspected drug traffickers, some were convicted while about Six Hundred were counselled and handed over to relevant stakeholders in their various communities.

He maintained that within the period under review, ten tons of various drugs were seized out of circulation and another large consignment of hard drugs were intercepted from going to neighbouring States.

The State Commander noted that as major stakeholders in the fight against drug abuse, the clerics were invited to have first hand information on the effort of the Command in the fight against illicit drugs in the State.

Speaking on behalf of the clerics, Chairman of the Council, Sheikh Yusuf Sambo Rigachikun pledged the council’s readiness to assist the Agency in the fight against drug abuse.

Represented by his Deputy Sheikh Abdulkarim Hashim, the Chairman commended the NDLEA for its effort in the fight against illicit drugs in the State.
