House of Representatives is to engage Academic Staff Union of University ASUU and federal government delegation in a Stakeholders meeting towards finding a solution to the lingering strike embarked by ASUU.

In a statement by the Clerk, House of Representatives Alhaji Yahaya Danzaria, the house is concerned about the renewed strike which seems to have defied all efforts to reach an agreement between Federal Government and the striking University lecturers.

The statement, however, describes the negative consequences of the strike on the future and quality of education of Nigerian youth who have been kept at home for the past six months.

The house also lauded the intervention of some well-meaning Nigerians overtime, assuring that it will not relent in its effort to interface with ASUU leadership and other Stakeholders to seek resolution without prejudice to the fact that the matter is already in the Industrial Court.

It notes that the meeting scheduled to hold Tuesday this week under the chairmanship of the Speaker House of Representatives Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, is expected to be attended by Ministers of Education, Finance and leadership of ASUU.
