The Federal Executive Council, FEC, has approved the establishment of the National Flood Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan for Nigeria

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Hajia Sadiya Faruk, stated this in Abuja while briefing newsmen on the approval.

She explained that the plan was going to be a multi-sectoral and multi-stakeholder one, with clearly spelt-out roles and responsibilities of each stakeholder involved in flood preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery.

The Minister said the objective was to make Nigeria a nation that would be more resilient, and called on operational stakeholders, including state governments to implement the plan vigorously to achieve the intended goal.

Hajia Sadiya Fauk also said FEC had approved the National Social Investment Programme Establishment Bill, 2022, which will give legal backing to the Programme.

Similarly, FEC has given approval to Bilateral Air Service Agreement between Nigeria and the State of Kuwait.

Briefing newsmen on the agreement, the Minister of Aviation, Alhaji Hadi Sirika, also said FEC had approved a contract for the engagement of consultants for revalidation and collection of aviation height clearance, on behalf of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.

Also briefing newsmen, Minister of State for Works and Housing, Alhaji umar El-Yakub, said FEC had approved a revised estimate cost for the rehabilitation of Onkon-Inya-Akpaigoze road in Anambra State border with Enugu State.
