Kaduna State Government Executive Council has approved the implementation of a Community Development Charter to enhance budget processing and community participation in governance and to also drive grassroots development in the state.

The state Commissioner, Planning and Budget Commission Hajiya Umma Yusuf Aboki stated this while briefing newsmen on the progress made in the implementation of the state Open Government Partnership OGP.

She said the charter will ensure community participation in all government programs and policies so that the people can take ownership of projects located in their communities whereby it will not be necessary for the authority to continuously monitoring the projects.

Hajiya Umma Yusuf Aboki said Kaduna State is the first in Africa to implement the OGP at sub national level and the twentieth globally which has helped to enhance and encourage development at the grassroots.

According to her, government policies and programs have led to growth in the agricultural sub sector which has enriched farmers as some of them are able to sponsor themselves to pilgrimages unlike before when the holy exercise rested on government shoulders.

She mentioned that the Planning and Budget Commission is centre of coordination of all the activities and working to ensure sustainability even after the present administration.

Hajiya Umma Yusuf Aboki emphasized that some states in the country including Lagos have sent delegations to study the OGP model of Kaduna State because of the successes achieved in the State.
